I finally finished of my Emergency Nursing theory courses this month and am now looking into my options of how to go about finishing the practicums so that I can get my certificate and hopefully start applying to some of the Emerg jobs! I love the staff on the floor that I work on currently, but am still hoping to get a position in the Emergency department and eventually to move to the IWK which is the children's hospital here in Halifax. I am not a big fan of surgical nursing and my floor is getting a little tedious after just a year. Not to mention the politics . . . though I realize now that they will be a part of nursing no matter where I end up.
After being off for the last year or so, it was a real stretch to get back into studying and a completely different challenge to integrate that with working a full time job! But now that the exam is behind me, I have to admit that I kinda miss being a student.
I'll keep you all updated as things move forward and let you know what is happening as far as setting up the practicums as I have more information!
